Ken Lazarus has been a cofounder, CEO, director and advisor for more than a dozen technology-based startups during his 20-year career. Prior to joining Scout in 2013, Lazarus served as CEO of Lilliputian Systems, where he led the development of Lilliputian’s portable power product platform, secured international aircraft regulatory approval, raised significant capital from blue-chip investors, and signed important strategic manufacturing and distribution agreements. Previously, Lazarus served as CEO of ACX, a maker of vibration and motion control equipment that ranked #79 on the Inc. 500 before being acquired by Cymer, Inc. (NASD: CYMI). Lazarus also cofounded DataXu and Ekotrope, and has worked with numerous other startups. He holds a Ph.D. from MIT and a B.S. from Duke University. Lazarus, who is a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, has served as an MIT Visiting Committee Member and holds over 20 patents.
Sean BiscegliaPresident & Founder
Sean Bisceglia’s success began early in his career when he founded TFA, a marketing technology company that he sold to Leo Burnett, and was recognized as the youngest corporate executive vice president in Leo Burnett history. He was also named “40 under 40” by Crain’s Chicago. Bisceglia, a serial entrepreneur, acquired CPRi with William Blair & Company in 2003 and achieved growth of more than 200% in less than two years, turning it into a nationally recognized staffing firm that he then sold to Aquent. With a passion for exploring new ideas that change the way the recruitment world works, Bisceglia and John Chuang founded the recruitment technology company TalentDrive in 2007. Talent Drive, with a profitable API partner model and a 100% renewal rate was also sold to Aquent in 2011.
Michael UmanaCFO and COO
Michael Umana is a team builder with entrepreneurial vision. His consistent record of spearheading process improvements and culture changes delivers strong contributions to revenue, profit, and cash flow. Umana has held the executive positions of Senior VP and CFO at Lojack Corporation; Executive VP, COO, and CFO at Saucony; and VP and CFO of the Instruments Business Unit at Perkin Elmer. In addition, he has significant experience at venture-backed startups, as well as with the Consulting and Audit Practices division at Arthur Andersen. Umana drives financial and operating performance in high-growth situations, building value and completing over $700M in M&A transactions. He earned his degree in Accounting from the Boston University Questrom School of Business. He is also a current member of the MSCPA, AICPA, and CGMA.
John ChuangScout Board of Directors
John Chuang cofounded Aquent in 1986 while still an undergraduate at Harvard University. Chuang has led or been principal investor in several successful technology companies, including Scout, TalentDrive, Angie’s List, Woven, Aquent, and others.
